Password protect your applications By Loc...

Ok I am finally out of beta, and this app is ready for public release. If there are any features or suggestions for this app, please post here or pm me so I can implement them for next release. So I decided to make the app the lots of people have tried and failed to release, but here you go an official password protection application. I made this application (with a bit of help) in about a week and its all in objective C. Its pretty self-explanatory to use, but if you need help when you open the app in the top left there is a help button click that and read everything, it should tell you everything you need to know about Lockdown. So heres how to download it:
Add this source to Installer:

http://madpike05.googlepages.com/repo.xml

Then after it refreshes go to the category Lockdown and install Lockdown, right now it is version 1.0. Please post if you find any bugs or is you have any suggestions. Thanks!!

Truphone (VoIP for the iPhone) [*OUT NOW*...

The Truphone group has been running though the concerns of their new iPhone app, the native voice-over-IP (VoIP) which was originally thought to be a hack job... but now others think otherwise. They are back for their release of the app, in good spirits.

Truphone for the Apple® iPhone™ hits Apple’s App Store:

LONDON (July 11, 2008) - Designed to provide low-priced international calls for Apple iPhone users worldwide, Truphone for the iPhone hit Apple’s App Store today. The application, which enables mobile internet calls using the iPhone’s Wi-Fi capability, is available to download initially free of charge.

Making a call using Truphone for the iPhone follows precisely the normal procedure: a single touch to open the dialer, dial the number or choose from the iPhone’s own address book, and a touch to start the call.

Truphone for the iPhone is a focused, fast and ‘lightweight’ application, in line with the type of applications Apple users expect. Complying with iPhone and Apple user interface standards, the application is a native Voice over IP client running on normal, unmodified iPhones and was developed from the ground up using Apple’s Software Developer Kit.

James Tagg, Truphone’s CEO, said: “Our mission with Truphone for the iPhone was to provide better value international calls for regular iPhone users, whether they’re calling internationally or avoiding roaming charges when making calls from abroad. Since there’s no risk involved - no monthly subscriptions or other charges - we hope it will be the obvious application for smart iPhone users to use for their international calls.

“It is the real deal: a native VoIP client for the iPhone, developed with Apple’s own SDK. There are millions of iPhones in circulation, all with an identical operating system - it’s a terrific market opportunity,” he added.

Truphone’s CTO and project leader Alistair Campbell said: “We set out to create an application that is as Apple-like as possible: fast, lightweight and focused. That’s what we’ve done and it works brilliantly, exactly like a seasoned Apple-user would expect.”

When making a Truphone call from the iPhone, the caller ID that is presented is that of the iPhone’s SIM card, enabling the recipient easily to return a call.

Why should you get Truphone on your iPhone? (you may ask?)

- Save money on international calls
- Simple calling process
- Easy to install
- Only pay for calls you make
- Use your iPhone in more places

iSlsk v0.3.1 - P2P client for the iPhone
Posted by richie on Thu 10 @ 12:19 PM | Views: 66 | Comments: 0

Are you tired of using iTunes to download your music? Well, now there is another way to download your music.. and it's for free. All you have to do is have Internet via EDGE and a new app called iSlsk v0.3.1 (P2P client for the iPhone.) This is how iSlsk v0.3.1 works:

just search for the song that you want to download it, then a list of the search results will appear. Click on any of the searches, then like any other good P2P clients, iSlsk will automatically download the song for you. The application is barebones as of the moment - a tag editor isn't included in the current release but will be in a future version - but it does the job pretty well.

Since the iPhone is a mobile device, you can expect to have any of your peers to suddenly go offline shortly after you connect with them. What you can do to avoid wasting your time in waiting for a download to finish, only to have it cut off abruptly is to cue up several or all of the results for that single song that you want to download. That way, even if one of them goes offline, there are still alternate peers online for you to download from. You can install the program by going to Cydia through the iPhone's Installer app. Check out the video below for more info:

Synchstep - "The beat that follows y...
Posted by Evolve on Thu 15 @ 04:47 PM | Views: 78 | Comments: 0

I recently refreshed my sources and discovered the new app, Synchstep. Apparently it detects your walking speed and plays a song that has a similar beat to the steps you take. I'll try it out later, but check it out for yourselves.

Synchstep (now for the iPhone & iPod Touch) plays songs from your music library that match your pace. Every step you take lands in-time with a drum hit, a bass pluck, a piano chord.

Unlike other music players, synchstep connects the music in your head to the music in your body. you don't have a lot of control over what comes on; it's liberating. use synchstep when you don't know what you want to listen to, when you don't care, or when you just want something good. let go of some control. let your feet pick the beat.

Designed and developed by greg elliott.

Bulging wallet? Try WalletCards
Posted by Evolve on Wed 14 @ 08:53 PM | Views: 90 | Comments: 0

Developer, Albert Alberts, strives to rid the world of wallet bulge with the release of WalletCards. This very interesting application stores pictures of your various membership cards and displays them in a full screen mode making your iPhone (or iPod touch) act as the physical card. Albert tested it out himself and reports that it works flawlessly.

As mentioned in the post from the unclutterer most of the companies only need the number from the card. The magnetic strips are hardly used and the barcode is just a store for the number. So instead of writing down the numbers I scanned in the cards -front and back side- and stored them as images on my iPhone.

To test it out I went to the local hardware store and asked the girl behind the counter if she could scan the barcode from my phone. The first look I got was pure amazement. To her the physical card was transformed into a picture on a shiny device. On top of that the barcode was scanned successfully. The result; a slightly confused girl and a happy me.

The cards are stored as images in an iPhoto album that is synced with my iPhone through iTunes. Newly scanned cards are stored in the album and are automatically synced. When asked for the card I pull out my phone and open the "card" in full screen mode.
